The clinical team is provided by the Grupo HPA Saúde – Hospital Particular da Madeira and consists of 7 doctors and 30 nurses, distributed throughout the supply points along the route, in an area created for this purpose. Approximately 450 hours are totaled for the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of clinical support. The clinical coordinator of the event is Dr. Yaneth Gonçalves, a specialist in general and family medicine, with expertise in sports medicine. The entire clinical team will be identified with a badge and vest.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CLINICAL TEAM
The main objective of the team is to monitor and optimize the clinical conditions of the athletes so that they can achieve their goals for the race. In case of a physiopathological situation, our purpose is to minimize damage and optimize the athlete's health.
If the athlete demonstrates clear physical or mental incapacity to continue the race, the health team may require them to withdraw. However, this decision should be made in conjunction with the medical director or substitute, the race direction, the athlete themselves, and their team.
The team is also prepared to provide care to any participant in the event, including volunteers, support staff, and spectators.

RETROSPECTIVE OF PATHOLOGICAL SITUATIONS IN MIUT
In the 2023 MIUT's edition, 52% of the approximately 600 interventions carried out by the clinical team were dedicated to the musculoskeletal system (such as ankle and knee sprains, myalgia, muscle contractures, among others). About 14% of the interventions were aimed at gastrointestinal conditions, particularly vomiting and diarrhea, and 11% at acute dermatological situations, such as blisters, erythema, and small wounds. 11 athletes were referred to HPM (Hospital Particular da Madeira) for treatment, while the remaining situations were effectively treated at various team stations along the route.
